Note: This article provides details about how to configure your checkout funnel and how Littledata sends checkout steps information to your Google Analytics account or Segment workspace. All the changes presented went live starting with 18th October 2019

How to configure your checkout funnel

One of the biggest features of Enhanced E-commerce is support for checkout steps.

To take advantage of tracking your checkout funnel and measuring metrics like cart abandonment, you’ll first need to configure your checkout funnel in the Google Analytics Admin interface, giving easily readable labels to the numeric checkout steps.

In order to do so, you will need to go to your Google Analytics dashboard > Admin > E-commerce Settings (under view) > Enable Enhanced E-commerce Reporting. You can then create your funnel steps using easily readable names, like so:

 

 

How the data will look like

Once you have set up your checkout funnel steps, you will start seeing data populating in your Checkout Behavior report with the checkout steps:

 

 

How Littledata sends checkout steps for the Shopify funnel

Both of Littledata’s Google Analytics and Segment apps support sending checkout steps for the Shopify funnel and their structure is:

Note: All checkout step events for the Google Analytics app are sent upon landing on the respective step.

Note: For the Segment app, Checkout Step Viewed is sent upon landing on the respective step and Checkout Step Completed is sent after the user has jumped onto the next step of the funnel.
