Littledata’s Segment connection fixes tracking automatically and sends data from Shopify to Segment. Here are Frequently Asked Questions about the integration.
Is your Segment connection listed in the Shopify app store?
Yes. Segment.com by Littledata is available in the Shopify app store. All plans include a 14-day free trial, so you can see the improved tracking for yourself. Please install the app directly from the app store.
What does Littledata’s Segment connection do?
The Segment connection lets you use Shopify as Segment source. It automatically tracks every ecommerce touch point on your Shopify store, including:
- Browsing behaviour
- Checkout steps
- Sales & refunds
- Customer lifetime value
How do I install the app?
The app will walk you through the installation steps. But if you need extra support, you can follow this quick setup guide. You’ll need a Segment account and a Shopify store to complete the process.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, absolutely! ‘Segment.com by Littledata’ includes a free 14-day trial on all plans. The trial is fully functional, so you have access to all features and benefits during the trial period.
What’s wrong with Shopify’s native reporting?
Shopify’s native reporting is simplistic and incomplete, missing key steps in the customer journey. This makes it difficult to get accurate data on sales and marketing for a Shopify store. Littledata fixes this automatically.
Can I get a demo?
You can book a demo slot with one of our experts by emailing email@example.com.
Do you offer enterprise plans for custom setup, reporting and support?
Yes, Littledata’s enterprise plans are a popular option for Shopify Plus merchants and other stores intent on major growth. These plans give you access to a dedicated account manager who can assist with custom setup and reporting.
What about historic data?
We can only send shopping behaviour events (like product views or checkouts) from the time of install onwards, but we can optionally push your entire customer database with Segment so you can sync with email marketing or customer support software.
How does the app deal with customer-level data?
By default Littledata doesn’t handle personally-identifiable (PII) customer data; only aggregate data like city or operating system. You have the choice during the install to push PII data to Segment, and include all the Segment destinations in the scope of your GDPR policies. Even then, no end-customer data will be stored on Littledata’s databases.
Note: The following three FAQs are only for users who were previously using the Upsell app
We were using the Upsell app to connect Shopify to Segment. Do we have to switch apps?
You don’t have to switch apps, but the Segment.com Analytics app by Upsell will be discontinued from April 5th, 2019, so if you do not subscribe to the Littledata app by that time, your tracking could be broken. We recommend switching apps ASAP to ensure accurate Shopify tracking.
How does the migration process work?
You simply uninstall the old app and install the new one. To avoid any gaps in data collection, we recommend doing this on the same day.
How is Littledata’s pricing different from the Upsell app’s pricing?
While the Segment.com for Shopify app by Upsell only offered two pricing tiers, Littledata offers a wider range of pricing plans based on monthly sessions or order volume. We also offer the option for enterprise plans, which include custom setup and reporting from a dedicated account manager familiar with both Segment and Shopify. Enterprise plans are ideal for Shopify Plus stores.
